Our 22nd annual dinner proved to be a great success. Many thanks to all who provided food, and many thanks to Elsa and Audrey for all their organizing. Thank you to the Woods for hosting this event. A wonderful time was had by all!

FEBRUARY MEETING

Our Sherlock Holmes Birthday Luncheon was another great success, with 17 members and guests in attendance.

Our special guest speaker was Mr. Erik Swanick of Special Collections at SFU (Simon Fraser University) Library. Several of our members have already donated material to this collection.

The Stormy Petrels will meet on Feb. 2, 2010 chez Wood at 7:00 p.m.

The case for discussion will be “The Adventure of the Three Gables”.
“I don’t think that any of my adventures with Mr. Sherlock Holmes opened quite so abruptly, or so dramatically, as that which I associate with The Three Gables.”

DECEMBER MEETING

Many thanks to Chris for giving us an awesome tour of the Vancouver Police Museum and allowing us to hold our meeting next to what used to be the morgue and the autopsy room. Details of the tour, along with some photos, will be featured in the next “Petrel Flyer.”

The next gathering of Petrels will take place on December 1st at 7:00 at Brown’s Bookshop. Located at 3740 Hastings Street, Burnaby.

“I am an omnivorous reader with a strangely retentive memory for trifles.” (LION)

Please come and join us as we browse, buy books, and indulge in a little pre-Christmas jollification.
