APRIL MEETING

The Stormy Petrels of BC will meet at the usual Hampton Place location on April 1, 2014 at 7:00 pm to discuss “The Stockbroker’s Clerk”

This story first appeared in The Strand Magazine in 1893. It is one of the few stories (8) in which no women are featured.

Can you detect a similar theme to other cases in the ‘canon’?

If you would like to join the discussion, please contact me for more info.

As always,
The game is afoot!

“The Adventure of the Spook House”

by C. Michael Forsyth.

The year is 1922 and two friends, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Harry Houdini team up to solve a disappearance.

Kidnapping, murder and mystery! A client with a gripping tale asks “Sherlock Holmes” to help him find an old friend who vanished in ‘the spook house’.

It is evident that Mr. Forsyth had done his research into the history of Doyle and Houdini.

I definitely enjoyed the read, and can recommend it.

“The Hound of the Baskervilles”

The Hound will appear at Studio 1398 on Granville Island from April 22 to May 3.

“..this imaginative and hysterical spoof of the classic Sherlock Holmes story is a challenging, yet highly entertaining piece of theatre filled with lightning fast changes of character, scenery and costume”

Three actors do an amazaing job of taking on all the roles in this play.

Several Petrels attended a performance in Surrey last year, and it was well worth the dive!
